Types of Skin Cancer

There are three types of skin cancer

1: basal cell carcinoma

2: squamous cell carcinoma

3:malignant melanoma.

Most cases of skin cancer in Canada are either squamous cell carcinomas or basal. These skin cancers lean to build up later in life on areas of skin that have been showing repetitively to the sun, such as the face, hands or neck. Basal and squamous cell carcinomas grow gradually and thencause death because they frequently do not increase to other parts of the body. These types of cancers are treated by surgery.

Second type of cancers are different. From different reports it is nearly 5% of all skin cancers, and are the type most possible to be serious. Unlike other skin cancers, they take place earlier in life and grow swiftly. They may increase on approximately any part of the body.

Over the past 30 years, The occurrence rate of skin cancer has been increasing in Canada. In 2005, there were approximately 78,000 new cases of basal and squamous cell carcinomas reported in Canada, and also about 4,400 new cases reported of malignant melanomas.
